GOLF 2010
Hello golfers, coaches, parents and PCAs. Can you believe golf begins
this Monday evening at the Braemar Golf Course Driving Range? Try to be there by
7:15 PM to warm up and go over some administrative items. Practice will be from
7:30 PM to 8:30 PM each Monday in June and July. There maybe some exceptions to
this as noted below.
Fees for this years program is the same as the past years $25 for the practice
sessions and $20 for the State Tournament (there is no fee for the Area
Tournament). Please make the checks out to Special Olympics Blues and turn the
money in at your first practice.
I have made arrangements for a golf clinic to be put on by Minnesota Valley
Country Club Professional Golf Staff on Monday June 14th. The clinic begins at
6:30 PM at the driving range which is located at the west end of the Club
parking lot. Following the clinic we will be allowed to practice from
approximately 7:15 PM to 8:30 PM on the driving range, the practice putting
green, and the chipping area. Please try to be on time so we can maximize our
opportunity to make use of these wonderful practice facilities.
Also please don't go into the Club House or Pro Shop because they are hosting an
outside tournament and they will be trying to wrap up the program about that
time. For those of you who haven't been to Minnesota Valley before the address
is 6300 Auto Club Rd located in South Bloomington. Go South on Normandale Rd
until it swings west and turns into Auto Club Rd. Proceed about 1/2 mile and you
can't miss it on your right.
The golf competitions are scheduled as follows: Area 11 will be July 27 (please
note this is a Tuesday) at Victory Links in Blaine.
State Tournament
is August 22nd (Sunday) at Oak Marsh Golf Course in Oakdale.
If you expect to play in these events you must be registered by July 9th. Please
let me know as soon as possible if you are planning on competing and if you are
going to play in alternate shot competition who your partner is going to be and
what your qualifying score is. If you want to compete and don't have a partner
let us know and we will try to get you set up with a partner.
We would like to update our Athlete Profiles this year since we haven't done so
for a while. I will try to send you one by e-mail before Monday that you can
fill out and bring to practice on the 7th. Please turn them into Deb Fox.
I look forward to seeing all of you again on Monday and remember to keep your
head down and swing easy.
